The Atascadero Community Band rehearses and performs  year-round. We rehearse and perform indoors September through May and rehearse and perform outdoors June, July and August.   Our summer outdoor concerts are held at the Atascadero Lake Park Centennial bandstand.  These concerts are performed every Tuesday evening from mid-June through mid-August.

Band members come from throughout the central coast of California, some making a round trip of 50-100 miles or more to attend weekly rehearsals. The band members' ages range from elementary school students to octogenarians. Auditions are not required to participate however it is expected that musicians of all musical abilities adhere to ACB Bylaws and follow all policies. Musicians must provide and maintain their own instrument and be able to play at the junior high school level or better.

During the school year the band rehearses each Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the band room at Atascadero High School, 1 High School Hill, Atascadero, California 93422.

If you would like to join, you will need to bring your instrument, attend a few rehearsals and determine if you are able to play the level of music presented.  All new participants must complete a Musician Contact Form for insurance purposes.  Please introduce yourself to the band officers and guest conductor. While we use email to communicate upcoming activities it is suggested individuals share contact information within instrument sections to make sure all parts are covered during rehearsals and all the sheet music is  available at all rehearsals.

If you would like to perform an indoor concert with us we ask that you commit to attending all the rehearsals for the scheduled concert. Concert dress is usually formal black dress/skirt or slacks, white shirt, black shoes for women and black pants/bow tie/jacket/shoes/socks and white collared shirt for men. Hats, tennis shoes, t-shirts and blue jeans are not acceptable for formal concert dress.  Dress rehearsals require Mandatory attendance.

During the summer, the Band rehearses and performs each Tuesday evening  from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Centennial Bandstand at the Atascadero Lake park.  After the concert the band rehearses the next weeks concert from approximately 8:10 to 9:00 p.m. at the Lake Park bandstand.

If you would like to participate in our summer concert series at the Lake Park plan on attending all regularly scheduled Tuesday evening rehearsals after our Spring concert in May and all the June rehearsals until we are scheduled to play in the park. We often play new music or music we have not played in a while during the summer and we all need to learn the parts as they will be conducted by different Guest Conductors.  For liability reasons and to adhere to the City of Atascadero rules, the use of, or being impaired/under the influence or intoxicated by alcohol or any other regulated or unregulated recreational drugs by any route during any ACB scheduled activity or event is strictly NOT PERMITTED. Scheduled ACB activity or event includes any time during the scheduled set up, warm-up, rehearsal, intermission or break, the concert/performance, and take down of equipment

ACB rehearses and performs all year round and all musicians are expected to attend weekly rehearsals for the concerts they plan to perform during the summer. In other words for the summer concerts come to rehearsal at 8 PM to rehearse the music for the next weeks concert.

The City of Atascadero Chamber of Commerce sponsors Tuesday Evenings at the Park activities during the summer months.   They often  include something for the whole family for example, prepared food for sale, free concerts by the Atascadero Community Band, boat rentals, hiking, horseshoes, and picnicking.

Currently ACB is recruiting new musicians who play woodwinds (flute, clarinet, alto/tenor saxophone) , percussion, trumpet/coronet, trombone, euphonium, and tuba.
