The Atascadero Community Band rehearses and performs year-round. We rehearse and perform indoors September through May and rehearse and perform outdoors June, July and August. Our summer outdoor concerts are held at the Atascadero Lake Park Centennial bandstand. These concerts are performed every Tuesday evening from mid-June through August. Note: As of March 2021 the Central Coast Arts Coalition and the County Public Health Department have made available specific COVID-19 prevention guidelines for musical ensembles in the community. While performances are still on hold, ACB plans to trial rehearsals outdoors weather permitting. Thank you for your understanding.
Band members come from throughout the central coast of California, some making a round trip of 50-100 miles or more to attend weekly rehearsals. The band members' ages range from elementary school students to octogenarians. Auditions are not required to participate however it is expected that musicians of all musical abilities adhere to ACB Bylaws and follow all policies. Musicians must provide and maintain their own instrument and be able to play at the junior high school level or better. Musicians participating in ACB are expected to maintain the music folder assigned to them including turning in music titles and adding new titles from time to time.
Currently ACB has all instruments/parts covered. Until COVID - 19 restrictions are no longer necessary invitations to join ACB will be extended by our Resident Conductor, Randy Schwalbe. All ACB musicians must complete a Musician Contact Form for insurance purposes. If your address or contact information changes please contact Beth Bean, VP of Membership and Publicity at email@example.com with your updates.
While we use email to communicate upcoming activities it is suggested individuals share contact information within instrument sections to make sure all parts are covered during rehearsals and all the sheet music is available at all rehearsals. It is expected musicians contact Randy Schwalbe and your section leader should you be unable to attend a rehearsal or performance as planned. Please to not attend rehearsals or performances if you are ill.
If you plan to perform a concert with us it is imperative that you are able to commit to attending all the rehearsals for that particular concert. Concert dress is usually formal black dress/skirt or slacks, white shirt, black shoes for women and black pants/bow tie/jacket/shoes/socks and white collared shirt for men. Hats, tennis shoes, t-shirts and blue jeans are not acceptable for formal concert dress. Dress rehearsals require Mandatory attendance.
Historically, the Band has rehearsed and performed each Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Centennial Bandstand at the Atascadero Lake park. The rehearsal taking place at the band stand for the next weeks concert from 8:05 to 8:50 p.m.
Please Note: Our rehearsal and performance schedule is subject to change on short notice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our musicians and audience are extremely important to us. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Musicians - Please check your email regularly for any last minute notices from the band.
Currently ACB is not able to use the Atascadero High School band room for indoor rehearsals. As of 12 May 2021 ACB has no confirmed location or date to resume indoor rehearsals.
